Careers Event Success in Swansea
Date Posted: 15th April 2008

On 15 April 2008, Welsh Music Foundation held the second in its series of careers event across Wales, this time at Swansea Metropolitan University.
Free to attend, those in the audience included students from various universities and colleges in Swansea and its surrounds, budding musicians and those interested (or just getting started) in working within various areas of the music industry.
We were joined by a selection of speakers representative of a variety of professions who included:
Paul McFadden of Bang Post Production – the company responsible for much of the audio post-production work on Doctor Who, Torchwood and a number of feature films.
Carl Morris of My Kung Fu – a successful record label based in Cardiff who count Cerys Matthews, Soft Hearted Scientists and Richard James amongst their artists,

and;
Tom Rogers – a man with a million stories and lessons from his vast experience in live sound engineering, tour management and artist liaison, working with the likes of Super Furry Animals and Los Campesinos! for starters.

Real-life accounts, tips on how to succeed and ideas on how to get started were all shared and WMF were on hand to be offer advice and answer questions.
Due to the positive feedback, we are looking forward to hosting further events in the coming year.
