Funding, CD & Showcase deadline.
WOMEX is the world’s biggest professional music conference, trade fair and showcase for world, roots, folk, ethnic, traditional, alternative world, local and diaspora music. Taking place 29 October to 2 November in Seville, Andalusia, Spain, the conference is aimed at small independent companies in particular. Last year featured over 2,800 delegates and 1,400 companies from 90 countries.
As well as the conference there is also a trade fair with 240 stands and over 400 exhibitors which was sold out last year as well as a showcase festival in venues in Seville city centre. This is a key event for any music company looking to export and increase their overseas business.
Welsh Music Foundation and Creative Business Wales will once more be hosting the Wales At WOMEX stand.
Funding Available For Delegates
If you are working in the above genres, are ready to export and wish to attend Womex this year you may be eligible for funding. This is likely to be the same as last year - £425 (+ vat) available to each company to assist with travel, accommodation and delegate pass costs.
The package will also ensure that your company details are included in the Wales at WOMEX booklet and you will be registered to the Wales at WOMEX stand. If you would like to register your interest please email lisa@welshmusicfoundation for further details.
Additional Support for the Trade Mission
This year we may block book hotel rooms so that all Welsh delegates have the opportunity to stay in the same place and therefore hopefully save money travelling to and from the trade show and showcases and a great opportunity for networking with other delegates. The hotel will be central, reasonably priced and around 3*. If you think that you would like to take up this option, email lisa@welshmusicfoundation.com.
The WOMEX 2008 CD - tracks needed!
Once more we will be producing a CD to distribute at WOMEX 08. If you would like to submit tracks of the relevant genres we will be sending out details very soon.
WOMEX Showcases: Deadline Friday 18 April!!!
If you wish to apply for an official showcase the deadline is nearing! To find out more how to apply, visit the WOMEX Website and apply through Sonicbids. If you are successful in securing a showcase you are also eligible for funding from Wales Arts International towards travel expenses. Please contact either WMF or WAI should your hear your application has been successful.
