Welcome to Welsh Music Foundation
Here’s a piece of junk philosophy for you: the music industry, like life, is not quite as simple as it seems. To most people, it’s all about The Singer or The Song, but behind every million seller, every explosion of new music and every sold out stadium tour there’s what’s technically known as ‘the other stuff’.
For ‘other stuff’ read: rehearsal rooms, studios, managers, lawyers, producers, agents, promoters, pluggers, distributors… The list is almost endless. But without these building blocks, you can kiss goodbye to your dreams.
It’s ‘the other stuff’ that we’re really good at. Welsh Music Foundation is the first port of call for individuals, Small Businesses and Start-Ups who need information on the music industry in Wales.
Let’s say you’re an artist looking for a manager, a manager looking for a record label, a record label looking for media contacts, or a TV company looking for an artist - you get the drift…?
The Welsh Music Directory has 1,700 listings in 65 categories.
On this site you can find out about Seminars & Events, Training and Education Programmes and Marketing & International Trade Opportunities, as well as WMF’s work in representing the Welsh music industry’s interests to music industry bodies, as well as policy makers in Cardiff Bay, Westminster and beyond.
There’s also a comprehensive list of subjects and Frequently Asked Questions that WMF staff can help you with and details how you can play a part in the evolution of the music industry in Wales by becoming a Stakeholder, or a Friend of Foundation.
