Cardiff is pleased to have been selected as the city to host WOMEX, the leading world music expo, in 2013. The announcement comes at the end of a year-long campaign by the Cerdd Cymru : Music Wales partners to bring the industry showcase and conference to Wales. The event will see around 60 showcases featuring some 300 musicians over four days, a trade fair with around 2500 music industry professionals from over 90 countries, 500 press and media reps, film screenings, seminars and panels, an award ceremony and opening concert.
This is the core of WOMEX, but it’s up to all of us to build on this foundation to create something that reaches beyond this, across the rest of Cardiff, across the music sector, felt through Wales. We want WOMEX to drive and accelerate the music sector, culture sector and links with business.
We are holding two forums to give musicians, music enterprises, music organisations and local businesses the opportunity to shape WOMEX 2013 and the part that they would like to play in realising this. We'll tell you more about what to expect and then you can tell us and each other about your ideas.
These sessions are open to anyone who wants role in WOMEX 13, though places are limited by capacity.
