NEXT EVENT: Live and Loud in Swansea

Welsh Music Foundation are hosting an afternoon of free events for those involved in the live music scene in Swansea and its surrounds on Thursday 11 November 2010 from 1pm at Monkey Bar and Café.
A live music workshop (1PM) will dish out advice on where and when to play gigs, how to identify and reach an audience and suggest ways of retaining a fan-base to grow future shows, all aimed at music promoters and managers, musicians, venues and festival organisers at varying levels and sizes.
The afternoon will also feature a lively panel discussion ‘Live music - what needs to change?’ (2.15PM) which will seek views on how live music could work more effectively in the area. Anyone with an interest in the night-time / festival scene in south Wales are encouraged to attend and make their views heard.
The events are held as part of WMF’s ongoing live music research across Wales with previous sessions held in Newport, Caernarfon and Cardiff. A gathering of those involved in live music in Aberystwyth will also take place on November 9 2010.
A short questionnaire devised by Dr Paul Carr (The ATRiuM, University of Glamorgan) is already available online, inviting responses to help shape the future of the live music industry in Wales. The questionnaire is available at https://www.survey.glam.ac.uk/livemusicwales
Limited spaces are available for the Swansea sessions. Those wanting to attend need to reserve a place by emailing hello@welshmusicfoundation.com.
