Transfers from 1/4”, 1/2”, analogue multitrack or DAT to CD or DVD are available, prices on request. Location recording services are available by arrangement. We have recorded everything from a 100 piece orchestra with 500 piece choir to string quartets and solo piano. Major Music gained charity status on 27th September 2004. Although we initially catered for 11 - 18 year olds, on Tuesday evenings between 7pm and 9pm at Llantwit Major Youth Centre in the Vale of Glamorgan, we received funding in 2007 from Russell Downe, the ex-Mayor of Llantwit Major to launch Minor Music. The Minor Music sessions are aimed at 8 - 11 year olds and run from 6pm - 6.45 pm every Tuesday evening. Major Music provides young people with access to a variety of musical instruments including guitars, drums and pianos, as well as providing musical tutors, vocal coaches and mentors. We have our own recording studio at Llantwit Major Youth Centre that will be made available to other young people, community groups and other organisations across the Vale of Glamorgan. However, as a charity we are constantly looking for new revenue sources and financial support. We have partners from a multitude of businesses and organisations including the Vale of Glamorgan Youth Service, Filco Supermarkets, Red Dragon Radio, COS, EST Buses Ltd, 106.3 Bridge FM, Celtica Radio, npower, WDA, Creative Rural Communities and the Welsh Assembly Government. We are also proud to announce a sponsorship with Roland UK, one of the world leaders in the design, manufacture and distribution of electronic musical instruments. | description: | The purpose built green oak building has many innovative features, not least the fact that the whole project has been built to the highest eco principles affordable. So the building is super insulated, extremely low energy and heated by a ground source heat system. The studio has a large performance area (48 square metres) which is very much geared towards acoustic and acoustic orientated music. There is a separate isolation room, control room and kitchen ( the kitchen is also designed so that it can easily be a secondary isolation room) and the whole feel of the place has a lot of the" homeliness" that you will have experienced when the studio was based in the Mill. Technically the studio is based around a Tascam DM3200 digital mixer which enables me to record up to 24 tracks live and the main recording software used is Nuendo but projects can easily be converted to run on different systems. A good selection of microphones is available and we are also very lucky to have a 100 year old beautifully restored 6 Steinway Grand Piano (which records beautifully!). |

Some great bands and artists have recorded in me, a few are The Super Furry Animals, Zabrinski, The Peth, Dead Residents, Cate Timothy, Gorkies, Killa Kella, Bench, The Keys, Black Music Workshop, Sybridion, Zervas and Pepper, DDD.
