| description: | Swn was born when Radio 1 Dj Huw Stephens and promoter John Rostron decided that Cardiff needed an event like it in their city. They had been to festivals around the world, from Manchester to AUstin, Brighton to Reykjavik, and decided it was about time the capital of Wales should have a music and arts festival. Thje first Swn happened in November 2007 in venues across Cardiff City Centre. The Cribs, Beirut, Edwyn Collins, Two Gallants and over a 120 other artists from Wales and beyond played sets to thousands of music fans. Swn 08 is well underwya and tickets are available now. The festival will welcome Cardiff post punk heroes Young Marble Giants to play at the National Museum of Wales, Mobo nominated MC Chipmunk and polka dot heroines the Pipettes to the party this year, with even more bands from Wales, England, Norway, Iceland and Scotland, along with art exhibitions, films and special events. |
